Scenic Roots

Greetings from Levelland, Texas! Yes, Amber and I are back in the Lonestar State, studying bluegrass music at South Plains College once again. Last week was our first week of class, which consisted primarily of finalizing our schedules. Amber and I are both carrying over 22 hours, so we won't have too much time to get into trouble (right?). We have made plenty of time for jamming with other bluegrass students, and in fact are headed to one such pickin' party in just a few minutes. Before we go though, I thought I'd up-date you with the latest Scenic Roots news.

We had some fun shows in Kansas before we left and are now getting back into the groove of playing around West Texas. We have our first Levelland show on Wednesday at Larry's Smokehouse. From here on out, we'll be playing there most every Wednesday evening, so do stop by if you're ever in the area. Larry's has the best BBQ around!

Later this month, we're headed to the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, KS where we'll meet up with Mom and Dad. We're also bringing along several of our bluegrass classmates. If you're going to be there, be sure to look us up. We're usually near "La La Land" (with the big peace sign light in the sky) in the Pecan Grove. I'll also be watching the National Mountain Dulcimer competition so you can look me up there. In addition, we'd like to ask for YOUR help to create some buzz for us. When you leave the festival, please take a moment to fill out the survey and write in "Scenic Roots" as a band you'd like to see next year... and then tell your friends to do the same!

Amber and I are both in the audition-only bluegrass ensemble known as "Pickin' on the Plains" this semester. We will be performing monthly television shows, aired on the local Lubbock station and streamed live on the internet. Our first show is Tuesday, September 22nd at 12:15pm.
