Scenic Roots

Montana Fiddle Camp

Released on 06/14/2005

Amber just returned from a week at the Montana State Fiddle Camp. She came home very excited and motivated. She got to take classes from Bobby Hicks, April Verch, and Barbara Lamb. She was thrilled to meet and get instruction from one of her heroes, Bobby Hicks. In the evenings the family joined in on some fun jamming and wild contra dancing. Scenic Roots got the chance to perform one evening of fiddle camp. That makes a new state for the band, bringing their total up to fifteen! Although the weather was VERY chilly, the family enjoyed spending time together in a LARGE tent. It is the first tent the Rogers family has owened that didn't flood Amber's suitcase every time it rained. The Rogers family enjoyed the 18 hour drive filled with new scenery. They drove through Nebraska, Wyoming, Montana, and South Dakota. They saw a variety of wildlife, including coyotes, antelope, free-range buffalo, ostriches, llamas, deer, prarie dogs, and so many others. They drove by Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and the Badlands.
