| This project has been a long time coming. I started planning to record a solo album several years ago, but it never seemed to work out until now. It has been quite the journey to get to this point. I started playing mountain dulcimer when I was seven, and it quickly became a very important part of my life. I won the National Mountain Dulcimer Contest in 2004, graduated from Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood Academy in 2005, and went on to study music in college. Then, on August 6, 2007, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma and music took on a whole new meaning to me. My family and friends were a constant support and my faith gave me the strength to get through each day, but music was my place of refuge. Whenever I played my dulcimer, my worries and pain drifted away as I became absorbed in the music. I finished my last chemo treatment on January 22, 2008 and am now free of cancer! Praise the Lord!
This CD is a collection of my favorite songs, songs that carried me through the difficult days and brought a smile to my face. It was recorded by JF Stover in Hill City, Kansas in March 2008. The title comes from my website, www.quietsunshine.com, where I chronicled my cancer story.
There are so many people who played a part in bringing me to this point that I could not possibly list them all. There are, however, a few who deserve special recognition:
- Mom for always supporting me, making me get things done, and unlimited hugs
- Dad for getting me started with music and showing me the Father's love
- Sister for being my best friend, someone to talk to, wait on me, and kick me in the butt when I need it.Dr. Beck, Carol, and all the chemo nurses at Tammy Walker Cancer Center who helped me get well.
- John Fuchs for creating Quiet Sunshine, and all the Fuchs family for just being there.
- JF Stover for recording this project and being a wonderful encourager.
- Ben Piper for "I Rest In You and singing on this CD.
- The many musicians who have taken time to teach, mentor, and encourage me through the years.
- My friends all over the world who have been praying for me this year. I have been overwhelmed by your support.
- In loving memory of two of my teachers, Mrs. Walker and David Schnaufer.
- Dedicated to anyone who's life has been impacted by cancer in some way.
-Enjoy Life-
Psalm 57:l-"Yea, in the shadow of Thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast."
